Fairchild Air Force Base Education Center/Library

Fairchild Air Force Base needed a design build project that combined classrooms with a research library facility — and the Air Force already had an award-winning concept for it.

We took that concept and turned it into an award-winning building, the only completed project that won a United States Air Force 2002 design award.

The Education Center/Library has the appearance and comfort of a private college with the flexibility to handle long-term changes. It is constructed to handle the climate and maximize energy efficiency. The classrooms are versatile and the library’s infrastructure is comprehensive.

But the building's biggest plus is how it affects the students who use it. The year the facility opened, enrollment went up more than 40 percent and test scores rose about four percent.
